Bengal Bulletin - November 7, 2025

A Message from the Office

On Monday, November 11th, our school community will pause to observe Remembrance Day and honour the profound sacrifices made by the brave individuals who have served and continue to serve our country. This is a
crucial day for reflection, gratitude, and ensuring the memory of their courage and dedication lives on. To mark this significant occasion respectfully, we will be holding short, grade-level assemblies throughout the morning. Student participation in these assemblies is important, providing an opportunity for all of us to learn about the importance of peace and freedom. I encourage everyone to approach the day with the seriousness and respect it deserves. Thank you to all of our staff who are helping to
organize this event for our school community!

Bus or School Cancellations

With winter weather here, we want to share some important reminders for families.

When an inclement weather or extreme cold day is declared, school transportation (including buses and taxis) is cancelled in the morning and afternoon. Schools will remain open. If you drive your child to school, or your child takes alternate transportation, you must make arrangements for your child to get home at the end of the day. Please call the school if your child will not be attending school on those days. Students will not be penalized for missing school on these days.

There may be rare instances when emergency winter events occur and we need to close all schools and Board locations. Please take the time to make plans in the event of an emergency school closure.

Information about transportation cancellations and Board closures will be shared through local media, board and school websites and on X @YRDSB.

Our process for extreme cold, inclement weather and emergency weather days is outlined in the board’s Severe Weather policy.

Final Exams

Final exams for semester one are only three months away. As per our
reporting calendar final exams will be held from January 22nd to January 28th. (schedule to be announced in December) Please be aware that no personal trips are to be scheduled during this time. Missed exams will result in a grade of zero. Only events that are supported by a dated medical note, religious reason, court appearance letter or bereavement will be accepted. Even in these circumstances missed exams will be rescheduled. Please contact your student’s Vice-Principal if you have any questions.

Semi Formal

We are excited to announce that tickets to our upcoming Semi-Formal

This special event gives students a chance to celebrate
together in a fun and festive atmosphere. The dress code is
semi-formal, meaning students should wear attire that’s neat and
dressy, but not overly formal.

Parents, please remind students to follow school guidelines for
appropriate dress and behavior. We can’t wait to see everyone looking
their best and enjoying a wonderful evening!

Dreamer Day

Dreamer Day was an inspiring event that gave students the chance to explore diverse career opportunities, especially in STEM fields. Attendees enjoyed hands-on demonstrations and learned about future job paths, which many found motivating and informative. Overall, the event provided valuable exposure and left participants eager for similar
opportunities in the future.

Library

The library is excited to be a busy place this year as a place for students to study, but also to take a break. Each week, we have a lineup of activities that include Trivia Tuesdays, Crafting on Thursdays and of course, board game Fridays! This week, we had fun with the October theme creating pumpkins out of old books and learning some spooky trivia.
