Bayview Accomplishments for This Week

On Wed. May 28, 2025, Bayview hosted OFSAA's first ever Table Tennis Regional Event at the Canadian Community Table Tennis Association (CCTTA) in Markham. It was a historic event being the inaugural tournament in OFSAA's 78-year history. York Region sent 26 students to the event, with Bayview sending 12 of our very own.

In the Girls' Doubles tournament, Jieni Zhang and Lexie Liu finished tied for 5th, Fiona Meng and Serena Xie won Bronze, and Eyan Cheng and Peggie Zhou took home the Silver medal.

In the Girls' Singles tournament, Ashley Tang won the Consolation Tournament, while Kate Wu won the Bronze medal, adding to her illustrious YRAA record.

In the Boys' Doubles tournament, Aydin Kamalia and Kayan Najarali won the Bronze medal in a hard fought battle against the pair from Earl Haig SS. This brings us to the team of Daniel Weng and Aaron Wang, who we can proudly say are our Inaugural OFSAA Boys' Doubles Champions.

Out of the 12 possible medals that could've been won, Bayview cleaned up and took home 5 of them. We congratulate the Bayview Boys' and Bayview Girls' teams for a hugely successful season. We'll be back to defend in the new school year.

Vape Detectors at Bayview SS

Vape Sensors will be installed in student washrooms in our school. Installation will begin at Bayview within 2-4 weeks. This installation will be taking place outside of normal schools hours starting around 3:30 pm. Please remind your child that administration will be alerted of any vaping that is detected in any of our student washrooms. School consequences will follow if students are caught vaping in our washrooms.

Accessing the School After Hours

As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all students, we would like to remind everyone that unless students are participating in an officially organized club or activity, they should not be present in the school building after school hours. This is to ensure that while students are at school, they are in a supervised environment, which is important for safety and well-being.

Additionally, students should not attend the school during permit times unless they are part of the designated permit group.

When any after-school event concludes, it is important that students promptly exit the building. The safety and well-being of students is our priority. School staff are dedicated to supervising during planned clubs and activities, but once the activities have concluded, this supervision is no longer available.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in these matters. By following these guidelines, we can collectively ensure a secure and supportive environment for all our students.

Events at Bayview This Week

Celebrating Pride Month: Chalk the Walk with Bayview GSA

In celebration of Pride Month, the Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) at Bayview SS hosted a vibrant Chalk the Walk event to spread messages of acceptance and inclusion across our school grounds. Students and staff came together to decorate the sidewalks with colorful chalk art, showcasing powerful words, pride flags, and positive affirmations that reflect the spirit of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

This initiative was a joyful and creative way to promote visibility and celebrate the diversity that strengthens our school community. Pride Month is a time to honor the resilience, contributions, and identities of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, and events like Chalk the Walk help foster a culture of respect, support, and unity.

A huge thank you to our GSA members and allies who participated and helped make our school a more inclusive and welcoming space for all. Happy Pride!

Our graduating students were invited to enjoy the sunshine, pick up their graduation gowns, tickets and a treat. They also spent time signing t-shirts as a token of their time at Bayview SS. Thank you to all staff who made this event possible. Thank you to our wonderful students for your hard work. Finally, thank you to our School Council for helping us with funds for this event.
